Default 98 Blazer heater fan stopped?

Hi folks.

Today my heater was working fine. I ran to the store and got back in and the heater fan would not come on. A little heat was coming thru from the engine.

When I turned the **** to the floor or the other settings, I'd hear a slight click and then a bit of a ssss then nothing.

I did check the two fuses(hvac)in the door-guess that's them and they looked good.

Please help me folks, don't know what to do next and I'm on disability and can't afford to take it to get it repaired.

Thanks and stay safe and warm-it's about 15F here.

If you have a test light you can check for power to the power wire (probably purple) that connects to the heater motor. Check it on the "high" mode.
If there is power to the motor, it's probably a worn out motor....tap it with a hammer....
If there's no power with the key on and the blower on high and all the fuses are ok, then it's probably the relay. You can also check for power into and out of the relay.
If the blower motor works on high but no other speeds, then I would say it was the blower resister.
Hope this helps

I have a regular voltage tester. I'll look in my manual for the heater motor and check it this afternoon when it warms up a little.

Thanks once again Chevy Lover.

I banged on it lightly, started it and the blower motor started working.

It works from high to low.

Do you think it's a sign that the motor/resister is going to go out or an effect of the really cold weather?

That means your motor is going out. I would replace it now before it goes out completly. Korey

I'll have to wait until it gets a little warmer-it's very cold here.

Is there anything particular I should know about replacing this?

Is this where I have to cut a hole to get to it?

Any info would be helpful.

A big thanks!
