Default troubles with my 95 blazer. wont start and i checked my fpr.

Hi i have a 1995 chevy blazer with the 4.3 vortec and i just bought it a week ago. I been driving it since then with no problems besides the bad tires i already replaced. Yesterday i was getting back from the casino about an hour drive back home and it ran perfectly fine then i went out to eat by my house and then on my way from from out to eat it just totally died like it was runing out of gas. I have a quarter tank of gas in it and it just wont start up, it turns over perfectly fine and somtimes at first when you turn it over for the first time every once n awhile it will fire a tiny bit for only a second and keep turning over and then wont start. Someone told me to check the fuel pressure regulator and so i took of the manifold and took that off and i was told that if you can blow through it its shot but if you cant blow through it its still good so it was still good. What else can i check thats simple that might be wrong with it? Also when i spray a some choke and carb cleaner in the intank it will fire for second also. Hope for some help, Thanks much! oh and this forum rocks! Chevy rockS! i hope i can get it fixed simply! thanks!

check the fuel pressure with a gauge at the schrader valve where the fuel lines connect at the back of the intake you need 60 psi for it to start..sounds like you have a bad fuel pump in the tank.

I just put it all back together and that was a mess. Dang. So it wasnt good enouph just for me to blow into it? I have to check it with a gauage? So i should take it all apart even though i already tested it by blowing into it and now air would go through it what so ever and it looked clean. Also the guy i bought it from just a week ago told me he just replaced the fuel pump so i should take off my tank to replace it again? is there a way to test if my fuel pump isnt working? also would you think its my fuel injectors? those are over $300 at the orliey auto parts by me. But when i spray starting spray in it it fires up for a second so would that mean the fuel injectors work because there getting the spray from the valves? Thanks for your help. Also would a fuel pressure test help me out to tell me whats wrong with it exactly?

Test the fuel pressure with a gauge. Test port is located at the back of the plenum between the distributor and the brake booster. Doing anything else would be a waste of time.

Check the fuel pump relay in the glove box ,I have seen those go out and that is an easy and inexpensive check. my 95 blazer did the same thing and this was the problem

How would I test the fuel pump relay behind the glove box? Are there right behind the wall that clips off? theres 3 plugs but 2 are actually hooked up. There like fuses. How do i know if there bad or not? also would you think my fuel filter is completly clogged up and thats why its not starting?

the relays in the glove box are identical swap them around...if your filter is completely plugged you will not get fuel up to the test post...Did you do a pressure test yet?

Nope didnt do a pressuer test yet im not sure how and where to get the part. i still have to call around. I dont want to buy the tester because i know i wont use it again an i bet the charge an arm an a leg for it. Im also not sure where the schrader valve you were talking about it located. Do i have to take the manifold off like i did to check the fuel pressure regulator? and is it right in the manifold or do i have to do more than just that? maybe if i google it it will give me a diagram. Hope it work or you have more info. Thanks for you help by the way!

hey is this it? http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...rManifold1.jpg

yep thats the valve where you need to install a fuel pressure gauge to you can get a cheap one at a parts store or possibly rent it from there.

The cheapest i found was at oriley auto parts for $50 and no one around here rents them out. So that sucks. But once i test that whats that going to tell me from testing the fuel pressure?
