Ok, my new to me 2000 blazer has a p0300 code. After searching this topic for awhile i came up with a hypothisis. I decided to start with the distributor drive gear. The first thing i did was remove the cap and give it a little wiggle. I was strangly happy with the results. It would rotate a little back and forth. It would also move up and down about 3/16". Do to the fact that its a helical gear, as it moved up it also rotated even more. In all almost 10°! So i orderd a new delco distributor drive gear from www.autopartstomarrow.com. My new favorite parts store. Free next day air delivery for orders over $50!! gear was only 20 somthing so i grabed a few other things too. So i get the gear replaced and and had to fight a little to get my marks lined back up right. The oil pump shaft down in the hole had to be rotated a bit. Thats not easy in a blind hole. I used CLEAN flat file. I thought it was better than a screwdriver.

IT'S FIXED!!!!

No more hesitations, jerking, sputtering, misses, loss of power, or anything you wanna call it.

Oh and the rotor didn't have all the movment that it had prior to the fix.

I read in a post somewhere that after the distributor is changed or gear in this case, that you gotta plug in a scan tool to recalibrate some things before its RIGHT. My idle is a little rough. Could that be why?

yea bring it to a shop and let them do that i do hope you replaced your old parts with ac delco. these trucks are picky for those kind of parts . all other market parts make the truck run a little rough too

Yeah it was a delco gear. The cap, wires, & plugs were replaced just before i got it from a buddy. He didn't use delco for them.

Does anyone have any experience with the cheap scan tools from harbor freight? Im tempted to get one

congrats!! Hopefully after a few miles the problem won't come back. But if it does then you're only firing off 5 cylinders instead of all 6.
