i have only run Castrol in all my vehicles (gas or diesel), and currently am running 10W30 during the spring/summer/fall here, and switch back to 5W30 for the aprox. 4 months of winter here in the GTA of Ontario. my Blazer currentl has a little over 182K (113 miles) on it.

I always make the oil change place put 10W-30 oil no matter where I go. I also have it changed every 2500-3000 miles. In fact, if I am home for the weekend from college and it is close to 2500 miles since the last oil change, I get it changed anyway.
It would go to 60 PSI on startup, 45-50 during cruise at 65 MPH and down to 30-40 (sometimes 25) on idle at operating temp. At the last oil change 700 miles ago, I had them put Lucas Oil stabilizer in it. I noticed my cruise and idle oil pressures go up by 10 PSI. They also said there was alot of moisture on the pan and that the oil pan gasket must be leaking. I parked it on my mom's new garage floor and she was pissed when I pulled it out and my front tires lifted the paint and there were 2 drops of oil on the fresh paint!!!

With 5W-30, it would go down to 20 on idle when it is hot, so I always tell them to put in 10W-30 and if they put up an arguement (like when I had the coolant flushed they argued with me about putting the green stuff in. They put Dexcool in anyway. Never went back there.) I tell them to move the car out of the bay and that I am leaving.

good call ComputerNerdBD. they say you can never have enough clean oil running through your engine. i change my oil the first of every month, regardless of how much i've driven-sometimes i've changed it sooner (if i've put on alot of miles).

I always use 5w-30 Mobil1 oil in all my vehicles unless the vehicle specifies otherwise.

Some of you seem to not really know what the difference is between 5w-30 and 10w-30. You should go here and start reading.

I use Valvoline Full Synthetic, but my 99 has been leaving drops of oil on the driveway this winter. Probably the Fram filter I should not have put on it.

Bringing this one back? okay...
Valvoline Full Synthetic 5w-30. Use to use the filters at (ex)work, but the next one will be a K&N. I've read some good stuff about them.
