I was driving my Blazer in Scotland while on vacation and I went over a rather large speed bump. I heard a loud thud and looked in my mirror and saw a donut rolling around in the middle of the road. I slammed on the brakes and jumped out. My cable assy on the bottom of the blazer rusted off and it snapped. Good thing I was only going 30 mph verses 60 mph around the Loch Ness. Oh by the way, how does one reattach it when it falls off? hehe. I'm talking about my spare tire hanger.

Eh, happens sometimes. Especially once rust takes hold of the cable.

Only real resort is to toss it in the back, and find a replacement crank assembly.

wow that sucks. my spare tire hangs off the back of the truck which I HATE. i would rather what XBlazer01 has... the bracket inside the truck... MUCH nicer!! or even underneath like u have!

It was funny for us at the same time. 2 kids in the back, wife in the passenger seat and me the driver just stunned. Is there a repair kit or assembly that I can buy? Yeah it's a donut but it's nice to have that comfort.

Yes you can buy this part I know for sure at the dealer (not sure about aftermarket) It's called a spare tire hoist.

that is part of the reason that i hav the spare master locked - so if the cable breaks, i wont leave it behind, cause mine is full size

and so it does not get stolen

hahah dude i have the same problem when i first bought my truck i beat on it bad i was behind my old high skool and me and all my friends were doin donuts and i was in the middle of about the 5th one and i heard a loud bang ithought it was my rear end but it turns out it was my spate tire (donut) slaming into the side of my friend xtreme it littarly flew off and blasted the side of the truck luckaly it did no dammage caz it hit the rocker pannel but it was just one of those things that u dont see very often....

ok well 2 things arent making sense in this story bro....

1. Donuts in a blazer! Uh yea roll over ratio.

2. Rocker panel? I have an xtreme. maybe im missing this but no rocker panels................

Maybe it hit the bodykit? But that would crack it. thats the most fragile peice of the vehicle. It cracks with no problem. People who bag there xtreme all crack theyre body kit from just setting down on it. stress cracks. Sorry but yea just doesnt sound right man
