The two engines (CPI - 95 & older vs SCFI - 96 & newer) are very much different. The first major difference is in the fuel injection & intake. The second is in the ignition system. You really need to find a SCFI motor out of another 96 or newer truck.

If it doesn't have a CKP sensor, you'd have to find the parts to be able to add the CKP sensor. To get the fuel system to work, you would have to swap the heads & intake system over from your motor. And the timing cover, etc from your '96 motor won't fit on the '94 block. You'd only be using the long block and even that is different in a lot of ways. Do yourself a favor and find the proper motor. You'll save time & money in the long run over trying to make that '94 motor work in your truck.

So for summary and to answer your questions originally asked... NO, it won't plug into your truck and work with out significant and costly reconfiguring of parts that may or may not even work properly in the end. You can take a newer long block and use it in an older vehicle, but not really the other way around.
