Blazer 4WD LOW will not engage. 4 HI Works.
I have a 2000 Blazer that has been sitting for a while, last time i drove in 4X4 two years ago All 4X4 options worked. Now when i engage into 4 Low I hear two loud CLINKS from the transfer case. Like it tries to engage twice, then gives up and goes back into 4HI.
4 HI will engage and i can hear the transfer case motor working so i know its not the motor.
The 4 Low light flashes while trying to engage, but never stays solid and goes back to 4 HI.
Truck will switch from 2WD & 4HI just fine, just no 4 LOW
Yes, the truck is in Neutral when trying to engage.

Thanks for all the rapid responses!!! Drove the truck around a bit and now it seems to go in and out of 4 Low just fine.
Must have been in a weird spot for the transfer case not to engage.
The noise was the same noise it makes when it successfully engages into 4LOW, just with a CLINK at the end. I guess the computer is programed to give up after two attempts to not cause any damage.
No parts had to be replaced, just seems like the transfer case was in a funk from sitting for so long.
I did buy a new transfer case switch, thinking that was the problem, but never replaced it. (actually still waiting for it to be delivered) still could have been and i just knocked the little ball in the switch loose when moving the truck.
But again no problems with 4HI only 4LOW and I know the process is different for the two.
