Default Question about switching from 2Hi to 4Hi/Lo

When parked and in 2Hi I press the 4Hi button and it lights up fine, when I hit 4Lo it stays at 4Hi. If I try to press 4Lo when it's in 2Hi it goes to 4Hi and not 4Lo. This does not seem right. Is it supposed to do this or is there something wrong?

Tks,

put your blazer in neutral and try it again, the 4x4hi is "shift-on-the-fly" but 4x4lo is not, you have to be stopped or rolling very very slowly, like under 2 mph, pop the trans into neutral and press the button, it should shift into 4x4lo.

It took me awhile to figure this out. I was in park and couldn't understand why I couldn't flip into 4lo.

Don't feel bad. My wife had to tell me how to do it. I was used to my old Cherokee. All manual you had to be parked for.

Gave it a try. I think it's going into 4Lo. Just does not light up. The other light up no problem, just not 4Lo.

well you would be able to tell its in 4lo, the gear ratio totally changes. first gear would be redlining around 8 or so mph. if it still drives like it is in 2 or 4hi, then it is not in 4lo.
