I've got a dynomax 2.5" cat-back. At low RPMs under high torque it sounds the best, but considering these V6s always sound a little funky I'm happy. As well, it's quiet inside, and loud outside, but keep in mind I have a 3.5" intake with cone air filter. Your choice of intake will also effect your exhaust's sound. I wouldn't oversize your exhaust too much or you may have problems related to your back-pressure since you already removed a huge (although purposeful) restriction from your system. Good luck!
EDIT: Note after re-read: A hollow cat and a glasspack is not going to be quiet under any circumstance, you may even get inspected over it depending on where you live.
