Turbocharging?
#1
Ok so I got a 95 Jimmy all stock engine. I was thinkin about going to the junk yard and pickin up a turbo or two. I read some other threads but my questions didn't really get answered. Should I do one or two turbos? If I do one, can I put it on just one manifold or put it where the two come together? or should I two and have them both on the manifolds? Also, if I have just the one at the y-pipe, how can I run that down there, I know a rear mounted one can have lag so I dont want to put it farther back than I need to. I just want a little extra power, nothing extreme cuz I wont be racing, its just because it has a lift and is bogged down a little. I presume the intercooler would go in front of the radiator behind the grille, If I'm wrong then tell me where to put it. Thats about all the questions I have; 1 or 2 turbos, mounting them, and intercooler location, oh and if I need to reprogram the computer or have it tuned. But like I said I dont plan on running alot, no more than 5psi. I also plan on getting a shift kit for it. Anyway any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!!
Oh yeah and any ideas on where to have the oil lines run for it?

I'm not sure he's got a write-up here but UR50SLO has one over on fullthrottlev6 on turboing a '98 - you will have a heck of a time with it on a '95 - chev changed things about the intake and fueling in '96 i think, in theory you could top swap on a '96+ votec intake and such but i have no clue how you'd get it tuned right
go ferret out that writeup and you'll at least get some ideas to get creative with in your '95 setup - the main post has marine intake swap info but his 'chapter 2' as it were, is all about the turbo

only one blower?
Ok so like I said in my last post I want to turbo my blazer. Well how well would one turbo on one side of the motor? Like on one manifold? I dont know how much that would screw up the exhaust or put more back pressure on one side of the motor... Like I said I dont know so I'm hoping someone here will tell me if it will work or not. Hope you can help! Thanks!

well, you will need a tune. Vacuum controls are useless (cruise, ac vents, 4x4, ect). 8-9psi max or its just a time bomb, It already will probably blow up prematurely anyway unless you beef up the engine. Turbocharging an engine is more than just slapping a turbo on there. Which side of the engine it goes on is the least of your worries

I have a 99 that's turboed and I'm on 12psi with 200,000+ miles still running great. You have to get the marine intake and a ls1 throttle body. You need to get the typhoon or Syclone manifolds to do it correctly unless you build turbo headers. There is a thread on fullthrottlev6.com UR50SLO very details he is the guy that built mine
