Default Chrome begone

This weekend i plan on painting my chrome grill, in fact all the chrome on my blazer, i want to know if any one else has done this that may have some pointers.

What kind of sand paper? what kind of paint? any primer used?

It really depends on what your going for. I myself bedlinered all the chrome except the bumper chrome. For the grille, lightly sand it because it's fragile, then use that primer specifically for plastic then bedliner. That's how I went about doing it.

Did you do anything about the bumper chrome or did you leave it?

I just lightly sanded the chrome down, then painted it with Kylon Camp paint. It is easy to touch up when needed.

Not yet, I will eventually get around to it, but a lot has been going on lately.

I used kylon fusion primer and paints for mine, then some krylon clear coat. When I cleared I tried to do thin coats, which didn't work and made it look flat black. Gotta put the stuff on pretty thick.

It is not painted professionally by a bodyshop.

Remember to let it dry for like a full day or more. I put mine on too soon and smudged it too. Live and learn!

can always get black chrome in a can and paint it that way

I've painted a lot of plastic on previous cars.
Like others have said- sand, prime & paint using something specificly made for plastics. Also be very patient.
