Chrome begone
This weekend i plan on painting my chrome grill, in fact all the chrome on my blazer, i want to know if any one else has done this that may have some pointers.
What kind of sand paper? what kind of paint? any primer used?

.
It really depends on what your going for. I myself bedlinered all the chrome except the bumper chrome. For the grille, lightly sand it because it's fragile, then use that primer specifically for plastic then bedliner. That's how I went about doing it.

Did you do anything about the bumper chrome or did you leave it?

I just lightly sanded the chrome down, then painted it with Kylon Camp paint. It is easy to touch up when needed.

I used kylon fusion primer and paints for mine, then some krylon clear coat. When I cleared I tried to do thin coats, which didn't work and made it look flat black. Gotta put the stuff on pretty thick.
It is not painted professionally by a bodyshop.
Remember to let it dry for like a full day or more. I put mine on too soon and smudged it too. Live and learn!

I've painted a lot of plastic on previous cars.
Like others have said- sand, prime & paint using something specificly made for plastics. Also be very patient.
