Default engine swap - blazer tbi 350 to 78 camaro

a neighbor has a late blazer - 78-92 style. the nose is smashed but the motor is good. He says the injection is a simple stand alone unit - I want to put the 350 in a 1978 camaro with a new turbo 350 in place of the 135hp 305. Should make a nice car - please help if you know of any hitches or if the injection system will all work. Will I have to fuss with the fuel tank? Please reply tonight - I am buying both cars tomorrow

Default RE: engine swap - blazer tbi 350 to 78 camaro

A lot depends on the engine controls and the required inputs of those controls. You will definitely want to get the wiring from the engine all the way to the ECU. Any more detail and you will need to let us know specifically what the motor came out of.

As far as the fuel system is concerned, typically, a mechanical pump is not used which is what your 305 most likely has on it now for a pump. The good news is that the fuel system should not need to be drastically modified. You can cut into the fuel feed line at or near the tank to install an after market fuel pump and a new inline filter. You may want to drop the tank and install a new sock on the pickup. You will also need to install an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator to make sure that the pump supplies a consistent 8-10psi for the TBI unit.
