Default Smog Pump do i need it?

I have an 86 Blazer with the 2.8L V6. Im about to put historic which means i dont have to do emissions on it anymore. i was wondering if i could remove the smog/pollution pump on it and just remove the Catalytic converter on it with out doing any damage to the motor.

If you do not care about Federal Law... Your motor really will not care.

I would not get rid of the EGR system without modifying your ECU programming to keep combustion temperatures in spec some other way (adding fuel) or you may burn your exhaust valves up.
