i just read that my 92 blazer suposably once had 190 hp... i just dont see it , i dont know i'm guessing it has alot to do with years on the truck and the rear end, but i dont feel 190hp when i take off... my brother 99 cougar only has about 150 hp and that thing takes off alot faster than my truck and top speed is about 20 mph more than my truck... i know its probly becuase 190 hp for a SUV is different for a truck...but really...4.3L has 190hp?

If you have the CPI system (not TBI), then you've got between 190hp & 195hp with 260ftlbs. The main problem when comparing a 150hp 99 Cougar with a probably any SUV is the weight difference. The 1990-1994 S10 Blazers weighed 3536lb in 2 door form and 3776lb in 4 door. The 1999 Cougar weighs 2892lb. So for a 2 door, you're giving up ~600lb with only 20hp & 95ftlbs of engine. For the 4 door... ~800lbs.
BTW, the two engines are available where the 2.0-liter double overhead-cam, 16-valve inline-4, called the Zetec, is rated at 125 horsepower and 130 foot-pounds of torque and the 2.5-liter dohc, 24-valve V6, called the Duratec, is rated at 170 horsepower and 165 foot-pounds of torque.
Power vs weight is 19.9lb/hp for the 4-door blazer, 18.6lb/hp for the 2-door, and 17.0lb/hp for the v6 Cougar (23.1lb/hp for the I-4 Cougar). So if your friend has a v6 Cougar, it should feel quite a bit faster than the Blazer. Consequently, my Bonneville weights 3633lb and has 240hp/280ftlb s/c v6. It has a power to weight of 15.1lb/hp. The new Corvette Z06 has a power to weight ratio of 8.13lb/hp.

Not a problem. You might be able to launch harder in the Blazer due to the torque, but the Cougar will pass you before you hit second gear almost everytime if it has a good driver.

could be a bunch of different reasons not enough air and fuel mixture when you start a restrictive intake or a lag in the fmu or a cloged sensor or a bad linkage just my 2 cents
