Default 1991 S-10 4x4 Blazer

Hello...I am having a bit of an issue with my blazer. I have an electronic dash in my ride and lately it keeps blinking like it is losing power. The cigarette lighter caught fire a few weeks ago so I disconnected the wiring harness and repaired some burnt wires. I thought this would solve my problem but it didn't. I then replaced the altenator thinking maybe that was the problem. All was well till yesterday and then all of a sudden in the middle of the highway it just died. I mean DIED. I have no power to anything. The only thing that works is the head light and dome light. Then smoke started rolling out from under the hood and you could smell that it was electrical. Would this be my computer or should I just dig a hole and call it good? Any help would be great as I love my blazer. It has been good to me up until the last month or so. Thanks.

You have an electrical problem somewhere under the hood. Try and look to see for any burnt or melted wires. Check under the dash as well. Your cig lighter fire might have melted and broken some other wires that you didnt see. Double check your repairs maybe they might have came loose.
