Default 2.8 V6

I found an engine for my 84 S10 blazer it is a 2.8 liter v6 which I have now. The guy at the bone yard said it is from a 2 wheel drive car or truck I don't know my S10 is a 4 x 4 with a five speed transmission. He said it would fit as long as I changed the oil pan and the oil pump. Is this a true statement? Also when I pulled the transfer case the fluid was redish brown color is that normal? Thanks

Yeah, you'd have to change the oil pan, pump, and take the headers from yours, other than that, should drop right in, as far as I know.

If it came out of a FWD car, I belive that it will not fit. I think the starter is on the wrong side, and the motor mounts have no place to bolt to. Just double check this to make sure. And as far as your t-case fluid, if it has not been changed in a while it will be that color, just drain it and fill with some new ATF. Korey

Do you know what year the engine your going to get is?

If it's TBI, I think you can just swap the throttle body and carb, but if it's already carbed up, it'll be easier.

I can't remember if the RWD 2.8 ever got the MPFI or SPFI

To switch from FI to carb you will need to change the intake also. The 2.8 in trucks only ever got TBI. Cars is where the MPI came into play. If the motor is from a truck, or a camaro/ firebird, besides switching intakes, sensors, exh manifolds, motor mounts, and oil pan/pump, the job should be a straight drop in. Korey
