Yeah.. So the title of this thread basically says it all.. I have had this truck for years and I really really do not want to see it go (although my husband is posting it on craigslist now D: ).
I need to replace my flexplate on my 85 s10 and everyone is trying to charge me around 450$ to do it. I would like to do it myself but I haven't found any do it yourself sites/books. Anyone know of any? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, nor am I scared of busting an acrylic nail off under the hood.. I just want my baby running again!!
If anyone knows of a place I can order a new flexplate from and is willing to provide the site, please do so!
If anyone knows of a place I can either view a how to video or get some step by step instructions, that would be awesome if you would show it aswell.

You should be able to get a flexplate from any one of your local autoparts stores.
To replace it, you have to unbolt the transmission from the engine. If you can find some long threaded rods, you can do this job without actually dropping the transmission, just sliding it back far enough to unbolt the old flexplate from the crank.

yeah ive done mine in a 4x4 without taking the trans and transfercase off. just take out the driveshaft and the bolts and slide it back 2 inches or so, just enough to get a socket wrench in there. those bolts can be pretty tight too
