I just got a 86 chevy blazer with the 2.8 4x4 standard when i bought the truck I was on the road i shifted up to 5th gear and it acted like it didnt want to go faster I was only doing 60 in 5th gear too so is there anyway i can fix this or do any of yall have the same proplems

I had an 85 2.8 that did the same thing. Those little motors didn't have much power when they were new. (about 125) Now 25 years and a bunch of miles later, it is probably only putting about 70-75hp to the street...
With mine I just left it in 4th on the highway.
Look in your glove box for the RPO codes, look for a gt4 or a gu6 code. The gt4 is a axle ratio of 3.73:1 and the gu6 is 3.42:1 ...I personally think the 3.42 were too high for the 2.8
Here is a cool link that will explain everything in your truck. Just type in your V.I.N.

Is it slow all together? My 85 was the same way and it was a clogged catylitic converter

nope not all together just 5th gear pipes are good just takes a while to get up to speed in 5th
#5
maybe its just the gearing itself. those 2.8s aint exactly known for power. i would just get up to 65-70 using 4th then shift into 5th when i wanted to hold my speed

Yeah, I think all 2.8's had that problem mine speedometer moves very slow when I hit about 65-70.
