Talking 87 s10 blazer 2.8 4x4 oil pan removal

so i did all steps to get at the oil pan and in process of puttin all back together, remove crossmember number 2, remove bolts from front differential, remove bolts from steering gear, remove bolts from idler arm, remove nuts from transfer case, remove bolts from engine mounts, and jacked up the engine from the bell housing, worked fine enough, the drivers side the upper control arm was also removed for easier access to the top bolt on the front differential mount i also found a plug near the oil filter was unplugged and the other was extremely oily, cleaned em up and put em back on, and i've still got other wires that i cant figure out where they plug in... im rebuilding the entire thing a little bit at a time, i hope this post will grow to be helpful for the lot of us. last time i drove it, i had oil leakin all over, 4wd was not working, dash lights not working, i did take it apart and replace 4 bulbs and some fuses, the exhaust was smoking grayish silvery black, and in excess, i have replacement fuel filter, oil pan seal, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets and clutch master cylinder, inside, replaced cd player, 6x9s, added a 10 in sub and a 12 in sub, and the 10 is run off a 240 watt amp, i'd like a little help figuring out vacuum lines and some other wiring. oh and i can smell its runnin a bit rich after i fill up the tank, or after a long drive. all questions and advice are welcome, im not a mechanic, just a man with some tools and time. If anyone knows the timing specs would be appreciated, i took it out for a drive and found the 4wd stuck on and i have the shift lever, so i was a bit confused when it was resting in normally 2wd and the light for 4wd was on, i cant find any positions on the shifter besides nuetral... oh and how much do i need the shim for the starter???

Default 4x4 stuck on

The reason your 4x4is stuck in is because there is a vacuum actuator that goes bad 90% of the time its under the pass side battery. There should be a cable that runs from it all the way to the transfer case, just pushnit forward by hand it will come out of 4x4 the shifter doesn't make a difference ifts it's 2 wheel or 4 wheel because the actuator is what mechanically locks your front axle in.
