89 Wont Start
I have an 1989 Blazer s10 4.3l v6. I was driving down the road one day and it just died. No sputtering, it just stalled and wouldn't start.
It's getting fuel but not spark. I have replaced the cap/rotor and ignition coil. I have check all the fuses under the dash.
Anyone have any ideas? Could it be the ignition module located behind the distributor? Does that send a signal before the ignition coil?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

tbi's dont have a knock sensor.^
Could be the pick up coil in the dis too. It could be the module too. Id see about replacing the pick up before the module though. ONLY go ac delco on the module, they are about 80 bucks. pick up is like 13 bucks.

I replaced but due to finances I had to return cap, rotor, ign coil, and the last part i just tried was the ign module. Someone also suggested the map sensor.. I didn't want to take the distributor out for obvious reasons..
It was the Ign module. A friend of mine was helping me try to figure it out the other day and I overlooked the 2 plugs on the IGN coil. So I just went out there today to look at it and found that. Fired right up! Thanks for the help people..
Good it's fixed. Now for posterity's sake:
I'm confused so I'm gonna ignore, assume no cranksensor, except to say if you have a brain fart or typo please fix it for the next guy's sake.
- Bad MAP wont cause no spark unless GM engineers are dumber than I think they are. Even.
- netither a knock sensor, but bad crank sensor {if oyu have one} will cause no spark.
NExT GUY, after you double check everything you've touched so far.. and it still dont spark:
- and before you spend 80 bucks on a module HOPING it fixes it..
Go to junkyard buy complete dist incl the ign module. Check shaft for slop at counter get another if it's sloppy
- hook it up to harness without installing it turn key on spin dist.. got spark?
I ASSUME the OP sticks a plug in the coil to dist wire to check for spark.
Dist pickups fail randomly. As do ign modules but faster if the module has no heat sink grease.
Contrary to some idiots, dielectric grease will do just as well as heat sink grease..IF the contact spot is flat across and within a thousandth of the base. Putting metal conductive in it is not fairy dust. Important thing is greasy, not cakey.
I could go on for days on this problem.. here's another hint:
WHILE you have no starting problems, pull the coil wire off the dist cap, stick a spark plug in it, lay it on metal.
Get in and crank engine.. see if tach bounces. Bet it does, at least in older systems.
NOW if you see it does, you have a head start troubleshooting if something DOES happen.
Same thing with exhaust. Get to know what exhaust is like at tailpipe with everything good. THEN - SOMEDAY- you will have a good idea whether or not your cats are plugged.
