92 S10 blazer front axle
Hi,
Here’s my problem, the carrier connector (#9), is slipping passed the retaining ring (#8). This is causing the axle shaft slide outward. Twice this has happened in as many years, I did replace the retaining ring last time with a used part.
My gut feeling is having the torsion bars at max to accommodate my tires might be the root cause of this failure. If anyone has had the same issue and found a fix for the connector slipping off passed the ring I would like to hear it.

Update:
I decided to replace the retaining ring with a new part and assemble and install the axle. After talking to a GM mechanic we decided the failure is a result of excess torsion and pulling a trailer. Both times the axle failed the truck was fully loaded and hauling a trailer. The trailer weight on the back of the truck lifts the front end giving more travel to the control arm. I can’t say this is resolved, probably a suspension lift will fix this problem.
Anyone needing to replace the retaining ring, here’s the GM part # 14041989
