Here it is Saturday, finally have some free time to work on Jimmy. Well, good news is everything under the plenum is fine. Regulator, Injector, nut kit and all of that is fine, even the electrical connector. I borrowed a fuel pressure gauge, but it leaks. So what I did was to turn the key on, and activate the injector with a set of jumper wires from the battery. I could hear it clicking, but no fuel was coming out of any of the poppets. This tells me that either all my poppets are clogged shut(which I doubt) or O'reily auto parts sold me a fuel pump that doesn't build enough pressure. I have a couple more things to check before I drop the tank again. Yay.

Man, I'm so frustrated with Jimmy! I think I will take an extra anti depressant and a short nap before I try and work on the truck. Yeah, thats what I'm going to do. See you guys when I wake up.

Do you want to put another aftermarket pump in? I understand the warranty and all, but what if it happens again. Aftermarket pumps are not known for their quality in this application.

Well, let this post serve as my testamonial that my brand new Airtex pump is junk. I'm going to get my money back and pay the difference for a ac delco or delphi. I'm going to do that tomorrow. I'm going to spend the rest of tonight sulking and getting fat, as is my option as an old man.

Sorry to hear about your problems. If you do a search on Ebay you can find a complete ACDelco pump kits for around 65 bucks, that's what I bought. The kit comes with new electrical connector (if needed), sending assembly to tank O-ring, hose bits and filter sock. With that said, you should still get a fuel pressure gauge and test your system, either at the pump or the nut kit. Testing at the pump should give a good idea if the pump is operating at spec, pressure and leak down. I know it's hard to get to the flex lines above the tank so you could always test the pump before the fuel filter with a gauge and the right parts. If you do take the pump out check the O-rings where the flex lines connect to the hard lines of the sending assembly, they do get hard and brittle, even fall out.

I went back to Oreily auto and returned the airtex pump and purchased the Delphi pump. Lo and behold, the truck starts! Alas, there is a new problem with Jimmy. I have a wicked knocking coming from the engine. I think the previous owner knew a little more than he said when he sold us this truck for $700.00. Oh well, it's our baby now.
