Default 94 Blazer 19v electical problem

Been having this problem for awhile. Kind of like the other electrical thread except all my lights work. At first it was just reading at 19 and idling funky. Then I noticed my headlights got brighter so I replaced the battery. That fixed the start up problem related to this. After that still reading 19, headlights too bright, and my blinkers stopped working. At first they went slow, next day just didn't work. So I replaced the alternator. That fixed the idling problem. Still left with the meter reading 19, and blinker problems.

I didn't want to hijack the other guy's thread even though its related.

When does it read 19V? Engine running, engine off, or both? At no time should your system voltage read 19V period.

Should be down near 12V when the engine is off... What are you using to measure the voltage? If you are using a multimeter or other external measuring device, have you tried it on another vehicle to verify that it is reading properly?

Do you have more than one battery in the vehicle?

I'm using the dash gauge. Looked it up in the manual it said 14 is what it needs to read. It has always been 14 until this stuff happened.

I would try to verify that your system voltage is really that high. It sounds like the gauge has malfunctioned. That doesn't explain the rest of your problems, but lets start by ensuring that the system voltage is proper and then move on from there.

My gauge reads 19v all the time but its the gauge you need to put a meter on it to get a true reading your local autozone can do it for you also
