If it's the 8th digit, it is a Vin W.

Thanks! Yeah its a W in the 8th digit so it is a Vin W. Replacing the knock sensor here in a few minutes. I so hope that this will take care of it. I will post what happens next...

Same code Vin Z or W. I had checked that, but when I copied it out, I was looking at the Vin Z description and forgot...

So replaced knock sensor, pigtail for knock sensor as well as the control module that is located in the distributor. No help. It starts, but stalls right out almost immediately. After a few tries and it gets warm and won't even start. Cleared the codes out and no new ones. Any ideas on what this could be? Going to go get a fuel pressure gauge here in a little while.

Is there a way to diagnose this? Really not up for dropping $450 and then still no have it work.
Gonna replace the computer tonight. After that we're up to about $300 in parts.

We had to start thinking about what this could be...it just wasn't making sense. We didn't really know much in the beginning about the whole Vin W and Vin Z stuff. Well being that all the parts that we've had to buy have been different depending on if it was W or Z me got thinking maybe we got the wrong fuel pump. Well of course Carquest was closed by the time we thought of this last night. So called this morning and yep they gave us the wrong fuel pump. The worst part about it is the fact that I told them over and over it was the Vortec with the multi-port fuel injection and made sure they double checked I was getting the right pump. So I am off the drop the tank again for the third time, take out he pump exchange it for the right one and hopefully this solves the problem.
