aftermarket temp gauge decision and install
Hi Im new here to the forum. I joined and did some searching but couldnt get to the bottom of my question. well I have had my 94 s10 tahoe blazer for about six months and about 3 months ago the temp gauge stopped working. I tried replacing the temp sending unit but didnt help. I am afraid its the gauge. It is the digital dash. So I have been trying to find how to hook up an aftermarket gauge. I have read for a mechanical one there is a nut and bolt on the end but am still confused on where to hook it up. I also read that a digital one you wire it somehow but am just a little confused. I would prefer a mechanical one. like a needle gauge. what gauge do you suggest and how do I hook it up? thank you in advance.
Which temp sender did you change? Mine didnt work when i got it, and my sending unit was broken off. The one that sends the signal to the guage is on the passenger side of the engine between and a little above the spark plugs, its gold and takes a 13/16 to undo it. Change it fast cause coolant is going to puke out the hole when you take it out. The one on the thermostat housing is for the ECM input not the guages.
ohhhh! ya i changed the one that was on the t stat housing. I saw that one you were talking about. It has a wiring going to it if Im correct? Can I just get a new one at auto zone? thank you
Oh and also Im not concerned about coolant coming out. I need to flush it anyways its very dirty.
