bad reading
Umm....your engine cools off when you leave it sit for a certain amount of time. Usually its like 30 minutes, but it always depends on the temp out side. I cant imagine there is anything wrong with your blazer if it cools down too fast.
Ok, I just got my truck up to operating temp (now I can start the dam thing) and noticed it was 200, then shut it off and checked it 30 mins later and it is reading 150o. I have just changed the coolant and all my temp sensors so I know everything is working ok.
Cooling from 190 to 100 when you shut off for 5 mins means there is something wrong surely??
When you switch a car off at operating temp surely it rises first then starts to cool off, you have no more coolant flowing through the system and I'm sure there is a certain amount of heat-soak back from the engine and block to raise the temp a little? Even if it is just barely, the result may keep the temp stable for a short time then drop off.
I would definently check the coolant level as mellon101 has stated.
I'm no mechanic, but the laws of physics do apply here.
