Default Brakelight switch.

Quick question, does anyone know how to pop that clip loose that holds the brake light switch in? I don`t want to tear mine up first to find out.

Sometimes my lower brake lights will not come on. I have no codes, and my multi-function switch is fine, so the problem has to be in that side of the switch. It IS original!

If memory serves it is a simple E-clip. A flat tip screwdriver positioned correctly with a simple twist of the wrist will back it off easily.

Thanks, AJBert. I will use a flat screwdriver with confidence the next chance I get!

I just replaced mine last night. You will need to use a flathead screwdriver to pry up the clip, then slide it over, then off of that pin. It helps to use a tiny one to get inbetween the clip and the pin, then squeeze a larger one in for more leverage. Once you get that clip off (a real pain in the ace) it is quite simple to replace the switch. Just go back in order of what you did to remove it, then get that clip back on. I had to use a screwdriver again to put it back on.
The reason I replaced it was because my brake lights wouldn't light up when braking. Turn Signals, flashers, parking lamps all worked, just no brake lights. I checked the fuses and they were good so I decided after reading the forum to replace the switch. All is well now and I have brake lights again!

Thumbs down brake light fuse

Hi Barnyard or anyone out there

I have a 2001 Chevy S10 Blazer 4wd in pretty good shape at 120K. My brake lights are out--changed bulbs--still no lights --went to check fuses--the manual and the key legend on the fuse box panel have no brake light fuse listed--nothing! So does anyone know which fuse actually is the brake light fuse? I have the drivers side fuse panel and the under hood fuse box--no mention of brake lights on either--all the other lights but no brake lights. I have checked the fuses with battery tester and all are good--but i may have missed one. I am desperate--I've already been pulled over and given an inspection ticket.

I also have a new switch ready to replace old but cannot figure out that clip holding the old one on.
Thanks,
marisol

Default marisol-- brake light fuse

Hi Daddysblazer,

Thank you for that --I will keep that in mind--however my problem is finding the brake light fuse-not the headlights. My top brake light is working --the right and left brake lights are out--bulbs are new--just cannot find a blown fuse --but no fuse is marked as the brake light fuse on my manuel key to fuses. Do you know which one is my brake light fuse? Thanks!
