Default code 43 problem

Hello everyone,

My 93 s10 blazer 4x4 4.3(w) keeps throwing a code 43, esc timing retard something or other, I've replaced the knock sensors, is the esc module known for going bad? The truck only has 50,000 orig. miles on it, is there something else I should look at? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi, I recently had a similar problem. From the use of the plural, it sounds like you found the second sensor on the back of the engine. It took me 2 days and multiple reference searches to find it. I ended up having to replace both of the pigtails (connectors) because the center that inserts into the sensor body cracked and the contact would not position correctly. Once I replaced them the error code went away. (Unfortunately, that was only the start of the story, but that is for another day). Oh, I found the pigtails on the internet (I think the company went by EFI) and were about $8 a piece and they shipped the next day. Hope this helps.
