Default Cpi?

95 blazer 4dr LT 4.3l "W" with 140K miles

I am getting ready to purchase a new cpi. The problem is that there are many to choose from ranging in price. From as low as 140$ to 350$. Any idea on which one is better. I would like to get one that can last another 140K.

I'm no auto expert, but I'd recommend the best quality CPI you can find, takeing into consideration warrenty, price, manufacturer reputation, (if available) and what parts/gaskets come with it. the most expensive one might not actually be teh best one for the money. Personally I'd go somewhere in the middle between the 2 prices

You are likely looking at different brands. I have not really heard many bad things about the different brands available. One place that I have had luck from in the past is LinderTech.com. They upgrade the FPR to use the later model SCFI FPR which is MUCH more robust. They have a kit that includes the CPI spider with an updated FPR, upper plenum gasket, a screened EGR gasket, and the 'nut kit' (internal fuel lines) for $300 total.

Default found cpi

Thanks for the reply, i ended up purchasing the kit off of e-bay. delphi oem spider, ac delco nut kit, and gm gasket for 325$ it only took three days to get it in the mail. I am going to be coing the repair work this sunday.I will be using the diy article on replacing the fuel pressure regulator as a guide. If there are any other links that might be useful, then please let me know. the only mechanical knowledge that i have is replacing the starter on the blazer.

P.S> I did try and call lindertech"saw that in one of Swartlkk's older posts" the salesman said that the machines are broken so it would take about a month to get the parts in from China. Needless to say i said dont worry about it.

Not too bad of a price for new stuff. Good deal. Let us know how it goes.

You may want to do the updated FPR from lindertech while you have everything out. The SCFI FPR is much more robust.

I've never heard anything good or bad about them, definitely post how easy it is to install and how good it works, but $325 isn't bad for a CPUI unit.

Default fixed cpi

First off i would like to thank all the people on this board that put the time and effort into this site. it has helped out tremendously.

i have a 95 blazer LT 4.3l "W" with 141k miles. gas was pooling in the passenger side of the rmanifold. i figured it was the regulator. I decided to replace the entire cpi as well as nut kit seeing how they were the original parts. Im suprised they lasted this long.

I am not really mechanically inclined. as i posted earlier the only thing i have done was to replace the starter. But after researching this job on this site and others i felt like i could give it a shot.
no problem taking off the upper plenum. the only issue was removing the retainer on the fuel lines. The job took myself and a friend a total of 5 hrs. This included taking our time and marking everything. It was relatively easy. i would do it again, but hoping it wont be necessary. also, i changed the oil as soon as we completed the job.

Performance wise it is like night and day. smoooth idle and increased power. i am waiting on the mpg numbers.

Happy to hear everything worked out good. The first time always takes the longest but like you said hopefully you dont have to go back in which you shouldn't. Post those numbers and once again good to hear all is well.
