Default defroster/air conditioning question

94 s10 blazer. Does the defroster require a/c to function. My a/c is empty and I do not plan on converting and refilling. When I turn the defroster on, a/c clutch clicks on and off like crazy. Their are two separate wires connections I see at the compressor. Can I just unplug them both to stop compressor? Will defroster will function? will disconnecting send off any cel?

i doubt you will get a cel if the ac is not working. the ac works with defrost to get the humidity out of the air before it blows on your windshield and fogs it.
if you disable it i dont think it will make a diff. the clutch on the compressor should stay in the "neutral" (wrong term maybe) as if the ac was off anyway.

Thanks, only reason I asked about a CEL as silly as it sounded is because it seems this think is so darn tempermental.

The 2 prong connector at the clutch has been unhooked on mine since I bought it due to the compressor being nfg and it doesn't turn on my cel
