EMERGENCY: Hood release cable broken; hood won't open
I have a '91 S10 Blazer 4x4 4.3 TBI. The hood is stuck and the hood release cable is broken. The truck burns oil and it's too low so I can't move until I open the hood.
I need to find a way to get the hood open. Can you guys give me some advice?
Thanks

easiest way I've found is stick a screwdriver under front edge of the hood and push on the loop the cable is supposed to hook into it will take quite a bit of a push to get it to pop I wouldn't rely on it for anything more than an emergency you will beat up the latch mechanism and/or the front grille eventually

Mines been broken for 2 years. Look under the hood, you'll see a small loop. take a flathead screwdriver and push on it towards the right. it'll pop open.
then pull your handle/cable out of the cab,and wrap it around that loop and let it hang between the radiator and grill under the truck and pull on the handle when you need to open it. thats how i fixed mine, but im a redneck lol

Yea mine broke as well , not the cable but the spring latch thing . I just stick a screwdriver in there and push down on the hood a little and it pops right up . The first time it will help if you look at it with a goood light so you no where to push the spring . good luck

Sadly the latches are crazy expensive I took the cheap way out and put in hood pins on the 2 front corners (not slide in pins these take a round type key on top to unlock and turn them to release)
