Fuel pump continues to run
Hi, I have a 1989 S10 Blazer 2.8 4x4 Manual transmission. The vehicle runs fine but when you shut off the engine the fuel pump sometimes will continue to run for hours. Sometimes when you shut off the engine the fuel pump shuts off, you go to bed and when you wake up the next morning the pump may be running. I have replaced the fuel pump relay under the hood but this does not help the problem. Any suggestions?
Thank you
Thank you
Theres a program in the ECM that makes the pump run for few seconds after the vehicle shut off to make sure fuel rail or injectors are pumped up to pressure for next start up may be a problem there in ECM ! I would wire a switch in series with hot wire that activates the relay, too shut it off manualy.
Unplug relay and use test light see which wire is hot put a switch in line on that one put a small switch under dash use like good speaker wire with double strand one to run to switch and one back out ! This will all so muti task as a security switch won't start till flipped on! Will be lot cheeper then a new computer and lot easyer to install! Hope info help ya out !!!!!! Goodluck
p.s. watch running wires that they don't rub any sharp edges any where ,can create a short cause engine to dye , blow fuse or poss fire!!!!!!!

Well, I'm actually going to get a quote on the body work and the paint job probably next week...it just sucks that I don't have the knowledge myself to do some of it. All I know how to do is little things like oil changes (who doesn't?), replacing thermostats, you know...the things that take 2 seconds and shops charge you a million bucks for. I am fortunate enough to have MANY mechanic friends that help me do a lot of stuff, plus I have a friend that I can get parts for cost from. So you might go duh, bang bang with hammer, but I go hee hee, I'm just a girl!
Now if only I had a garage...[&:]
