Default Fuel Pump Died.

Today my 89 GMC Jimmy died on the interstate going up an overpass. Luckily I was able to coast up and down the bridge and was able to pull off to the side of the interstate. I poured a small amount of gas directly into the TBI and the engine fired right up so I knew it was most likely the fuel pump. I called AAA for a tow to my independent mechanic. The current pump was installed in 04 and has lasted for around 100K miles. Right now I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery and I am not able to do any mechanicl work for at least 4 to 6 months. Hopefully, I do not have any other major vehical problems happen while I am sidelined.

Yup. Use a delco pump. Anything else is just junk.

rock...auto.... delphi or delco. I used delphi, and only have used delphi, have had great luck with them. the price at rock auto is amazing, I am not sure about showing up at a shop with the part already telling them to put it in, however.

good nuff! delphi ftw. good luck with it. Replace the relay with it for added insurance.

MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE PUMP TO MAKE SURE ITS A DELPHI!!!

Shops have been known to say they are going to put in the better pump, and get a cheap one and charge you for the better one.

My fuel sending unit was errattic at near the full mark so I was intersted in getting a complety new fuel assembly. The shop called me today and said that they could not get the delphi unit at a good price so I asked if I could supply them the assembly and they said no problem. So I ordered the Delphi HP 10020 from Amazon and paid a little extra for next day delivery. I should have the pump on Tuesday and the shop should have it on Wenesday. I previously installed a spectra sending unit and was not really happy with it. This is an opportunity to install OEM equipment.

Good choice, and awesome that the shop will put in the part you supply, they usually do not do that.
Spectra= fail in these trucks

they'll do it,but it voids any warranty on parts. Now if that new pump dies your paying them to do it again. i learned that the hard way.
