Default funny oil pressure?

hey guys, i've got a 91 s10 blazer, 4.3. my oil pressure shows over 40 when I first start it up cold. after 10 seconds it divebombs down to 0 and stays there throughout the whole driving range. I know these pressure gauges are garbage but my oil filter lines do leak a good amount. would having leaky oil filter lines make no oil pressure to a dangerous level? thank you guys.

That quick of a transition makes me suspect the oil pressure sending unit. Get a manual gauge on there and check the pressure. I think (and hope) you'll find that it doesn't drop to zero.
