Gas Fumes Smell

Gas Fumes Smell
1991 T-10 Blazer 4.3L 4Door
When standing close to vehicle on drivers side especially when rear door is open and head inside vehicle I can smell gasoline fumes. There are NO leaks for I have crawled under the truck several times to look. Is this perhaps the recall I read about this model?
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I had that exact same problem and it turned out the gas tank had a hole on top of it due the many years of dirt and grime eating a hole in it. It took me a long time to figure that out because it never dripped, it just smelled due to the hole in the top.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, That makes a lot of sense. Maybe whenever the fuel pump goes bad I will change the tank as well, Just hope I do not rollover before hand!

Well, if you do rollover at least you will then now if it's the top of the tank...lol.
But seriously. You could "pressurize" the fuel tank with air and have someone under the truck listening for noise at the tank.
Wrap a rag around an air hose to make it large enough to seal to the filler neck. You may have to plug the vent hose.

If it does end up being a hole in the tank you may not wanna wait to change out the tank because your gas will just evaporate so you might as well just light your wallet on fire because both ways you're just losing money haha.
New tanks can be pricey, but if can find a used tank you will be good to go. My used tank cost me 50 bucks and took about an hour or so to install. You just gotta be careful with the fuel pump and all that fun stuff.

Hey That pressurized air is a great idea! Thanks. Ive been considering changing my tank and fuel pump assembly anyway since the truck is in such good shape and I love to drive it. Thanks Guys

hey Guys.
There are 3 fuel lines. I know that 1 is the main supply to the TBI with the fuel filter inline. What exactly are the other two? I figure 1 is a return and is the other from the fuel vapor canister?
Anyway...one of these lines is leaking. Not the supply line - it is good. That's where my smell is coming from. Bad news is thatr is is in a place really close to the tank and hard to get to.

Or just cut a hole in the bed right above the fuel pump.
