Gauges not working - HELP!!
Hey guys,
I have a 88 S10 Blazer with the 4.3L. The gauges, including the Odometer have stopped working. The lights still work and the battery gauge, but everything else doesn't work. Any ideas on how I can fix it? I'm thinking the throttle cable? What do you think??

I'm thinking more along the lines of a blown fuse for everything other than the speedometer which was mechanical that year, that is likely the speedo cable or the gears in the transmission tailshaft (on a 2wd) or transfer case tailshaft (4wd).

I've checked all of the fuses and everything looks good. That was the first thing I checked hoping it was something easy. So for the speedometer, should I start with the cable? I've never encountered this problem before.

Make sure you have a good ground. From your battery to the frame of the blazer. I had the same problem. Added a good ground and all work now.

you have an analog cluster right ?

Yup...analog
I'll def. Check the ground too!

I had a similar problem this weekend out on the trails, and it turned out to be a fuse. I'd double check the fuses and use a volt meter to make sure you have voltage on both sides of each fuse (the IGN fuse should be the one you need to check). It's rare, but I have seen a fuse fail while it still looks OK. The failure was inside the top dark plastic rather than in the designed fail-point, and almost impossible to spot.
I don't think it is the cause of your problem though, as the battery gauge is fed from the same fuse IIRC (I know it is in my year, but not 100% with your year). Since that is still working, I would think you are correct to start troubleshooting the vehicle speed circuit as mentioned above.
