Glass fuse on firewall under hood
Hey guys,
Our 93 jimmy was acting funny, the transmission was shifting hard and stuff. I found a glass fuse along the firewall blown. It was rated at 30 amps, and the wires going to it are red with a white stripe. It is not marked, and I do not know what it goes to. Is this the transmission fuse that everyone is always talking about? I plan on replacing this in-line glass fuse with a blade type, or a quick acting 25 amp circuit breaker. Somebody help me identify this fuse please.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I will get some pics of the firewall area posted as soon as possible. It does not look to be aftermarket installed. There is a black shunt looking thing that this glass fuse was getting its power from. I have already installed my circuit breaker mod, and the transmission problem has gone away.
Like I said, the wire is red with a white stripe. Not too many aftermarket wire is sold with stripes on it. Pictures soon, I promise.

I was at the junkyard today getting some oil lines for the Jimmy, and while I was there, studied the firewalls on many jimmys and blazers in the yard. Some had the 10 guage red wire with the white stripe, however, none of them had the in-line glass fuse. I have concluded that the wire must be the power wire for the transmission. I also believe the glass fuse was factory. It did not appear to be added aftermarket. I've seen plenty of wiring in my many years and i can tell the difference between factory and aftermarket. My cicuit breaker mod seems to be doing fine. No tranny problems yet.
kinda ironic. i was working on my 1990 fullsize at work and there was actually a bus fuse near the the passenger side firewall behind the junction cover. it was for the little retractable work light that they bolt to the fender
