Default Fuse/Relay Center under hood question

Hello,
1998 Blazer LS 4x4, 4.3 with auto transmission.
Two questions regarding the fuse/relay center under the hood of the Blazer.
See photo. Are these positive or negative? Sorry, don't have my multimeter right now. I want to add an accessory and was thinking of tapping into the smaller of the connection there.

Question two, is their supposed to be a cover of some sort that covers up these connections? It almost looks like their should be. I'm wondering if it's broken off or missing.

Thanks so much, Mark

On my cover there is a sort of 'porch' covering that large connection...
which is POS. directly from battery.

Dont know off-hand what small stud is, but I wouldnt use that unless you know what relationships it has to the fuses in the block, so you need your meter anyway

Thank you. The smaller stud is threaded and thats why I thought it would be easy to screw a connector on there. Almost like its meant for tapping into.

The smaller stud is one of the bolts that holds the relay center to the truck. The other one is direct from the battery (not fused) and if you open the cover on the opposite corner from where the battery connection is there is another stud sticking up with a little tab that goes under the 30A fuse on that corner. I THINK that one is fused 30A positive through the fuse/relay center there but you should check that with a multimeter and manual before quoting me on it.

There is a small cover that attaches to the fuse/relay cover, I found mine at my local salvage yard. Just check the Blazers and S-10's. I checked about 6 or 7 before I found one.

Hmmmm, do I really need that cover? Not sure I want to go in search of one in the junkyards although I would order a new one if I had a part #.

The post is out of the way and the only benefit of that porch cover is in the event you would set a wrench on the cover and it fell off and stuck on the terminal as well as grounded to the metal near it.

There's other ways.. one would be a pill cap with hole punched in center topped with a plastic bolt cap {like for kids play equipment} from misc hdw drawers at Lowes

Hey 1371947, you should really start a new thread rather than put your question in mine. Your question is totally unrelated to what I've posted. You'll get much better feedback by posting things correctly.
