Ok folks I have a weird issue. When I bought my truck the heater core was bypassed and the temp gauge never worked. So I replaced the heater core and had heat everything fine. Then I replaced temp sender unit for gauge and then the thermostat. Stock stat 195. Heat works awesome and everything else is good. I then started having a problem with my stereo. The sub just isn't as loud as it should be/or has been recently. I've been doing different tests to make sure it's not the sub or amp. What I have noticed is that when the truck is cold, either in the morning or after sitting, the stereo is fine. Exactly as it was before I started having problems. What I noticed is that the glove box is very very warm once up to normal operating temp. I'm starting to think that the extra heat from the glove box area is causing my deck to not work properly when hot. Does anyone else have a hot as heck glove box normally? Thanks

That is unusuall. I would check underneath the dash to see if a hose is dissconnected, or one of the tubes for your vents has a hole in it creating a pocket of hot air behind the dash creating that problem. [sm=interesting.gif]

 

My fiancee just mentioned to me that my glove box was extremely hot when I have the heat on. I have a 1992.

 

My '86 Blazer has the same thing..not hot but quite warm, I took what I could apart to see if there was a problem but found nothing, no holes or splits in the venting. Even with the temp.selector turned all the way to cold and left there it still warms up. I wonder if it's just radiant heat from the heater core?

 

Its got to be, i tore my dash out yesterday and found perfect vent tubes, no tears no holes, everything is connected.

 

i was searching for a different help thread when i clicked on this one and was surprised. i have a 93 jimmy and my glove box does get warm too. the weird thing is that my engine temp guage doesnt work and my radio works for the first five minutes after startup then gets real fuzzy. it seems like it is the same series of problems that all of us had. im not to worried about the glove box, but i want an "all the time working" radio and i definetly want to get my temp guage working. did you just replace the thermostat? please let me know.

Remove the plug off the sending unit in the passenger side head. Have the car turned to run and ground out the sending unit wire. The gauge inside should move and pin at full hot. If it does that, replace the sending unit.

 

i took the back part of the glove box off and there is some kind of hose (heater or vacuum?) that might be why are glove boxes get hot
