Default Is high performance coil worth it?

I haven't done any other mods to my Blazer, still trying to get it run 'perfect' (if that's possible).... still fighting a very slight surge on and off... also doesn't seem to have the power this size engine should have.

It has the stock coil on it.

I see a MSD's Blaster GM Coil at Oreilley's for $39.99 vs a standard OE style for $19.99.

If standard OE style wires are being used will a supposedly 'high performance' coil do anything for me?

i had that MSD coil on my '92 Jimmy. didn't really notice much difference in performance, but my truck was stick, and i was always "foot down, rowing gears". i did notice that my plugs stayed cleaner than before.

Are/were you running standard wires or 'high perf.' wires?

Sounds like for $20 difference it wouldn't hurt to get the MSD anyway?

The factory coil is actually hotter than the engine needs anyways. If your coil is bad and you can get the MSD one cheaper than a ac delco then by all means go ahead. If not then just get the factory one. I'm running an MSD on mine and you won't notice a bit of difference, even with running the msd wires.
