Is the inside of my TB supposed to look like this?

Looking at that scorched looking opening down on the inside, looks like its on both ports

yikes....If its on the surface just clean it. If its gouged,then no its not suppose to be there. I wonder would could of caused it.

from what i can tell it looks like some kind of hole, that silver peice if you look hard is the gasket underneath, its on both sides. if you right click the photo and "open in new tab" you can zoom in way more and see it better

there shouldnt be any kind of hole there. I dont think. I'll go look at mine and see if its there. i dont remember seeing it when i rebuilt mine.

So no one has seen the inside of your TB to be able to give me a definite answer for this?

I will when i have the chance. its been raining down here and i keep forgetting lol. Google tbi body and try to find some pics that might answer your question

Did that before i even posted. Cant find any photos that deep inside

i would get some tb cleaner and a rag. spray some on the rag and get in there and clean the ***t out of it. i will give you a better idea.. plus there should be a hole in the butterfly. i might be mistaken, but if there is, make sure that you clean that out too. if you are having rough idle or something similar, like surging, that little hole being plugged might have caused it. as far as that gouge down in there, there is probably not much you can do besides clean it from time to time. i wouldnt worry about it too much.

Does it backfire through the intake much?
