My Blazer thread. Caught fire last night, "pop" noises when trying to start. Begin.

#1 - Doesn't matter.
#2 - Pretty much with some changes part way through '95.
#3 - While it would fit, there are other problems with running a carb on a vehicle that currently has an electronically controlled fuel injection system, ignition, and transmission. I would not recommend the switch without substantial research into the topic. Right now, it will only bring you more headaches.
#4 - I can't say that I have really paid all that much attention to the valve covers on these engines, but I can't see why you would want to.
#5 - It is a marine engine based off of the GM 4.3L V6.

What Kyle is trying to tell you, is early production 1995 is very similar to 1992. It is equipped with OBDI computer controls and HEI ignition. Mid 1995 and newer, among other things, have OBD1.5 computer controls and are equipped with crankshaft & camshaft position sensors, along with EDI ignition. Retro fitting can be done, but it involves serious work, money, and extensive knowledge of how both systems work.

I must have missed the results of the compression and leak down tests that are pretty much required for the conclusion that the head gasket has failed... Seems like you don't want help with figuring out the root cause problems and are latching on to whatever speculation is suggested.
Good luck from here on out. Hopefully those that you are actually listening to do not waste too much of your money. After all, it costs nothing to throw out ideas as to the source of a problem. It can and already has cost you time and money to blindly plunge ahead without verification.

My concern: I'm good to do the test, I won't cause any more fires, as fuel and spark are disabled?
It is not a problem to go out and get another tester, .. I can agree my focus was off.
Ok. Alright. Thought about it.. I'll order a compression tester from Amazon, and report back the numbers when it comes. That's no problem.
The thing is, I am SO GOOD at "blindly plunge ahead without verification" .. However maybe I can change that.

I sure hope it isn't come kind of head or block problem. Surely do hope it's not that. Though I'm all in...
Maybe I don't have much to report back until it comes in the mail, though I'm preparing for "what is next."
Should I do the nut kit and try to at least have it run for a little before I try compression test? You did tell me how to do that

This is what I'm ordering when my check clears. I make like $200 a week. Amazon.com: Actron CP7827 Compression Tester Kit: Automotive

Most auto parts stores have loaner tool programs. You buy the tool, use it, and return it. It ends up being free. Save yourself some bucks
