Mystery Diagnosis
'88 S10 Blazer 2.8 VIN Code "R" 2WD 220k. I am having SERIOUS issues with stalling out in the most dangerous of places at the worst possible times. This problem started when I had my A/C recharged about 2 years ago, and attempted to start using it about a year ago. The first time my truck stalled out, I was at a red light when I kicked on my A/C only to experience an immediate stall out. I push my truck out of traffic to discover the fuel pump will not prime/pump. This continuing trend happens whether I use my A/C or not and it has left me stranded a handful of times. It will turn back over with no problems only after I disconnect the battery and wait anywhere from 5 mins. to 1 hr. I have been told my A/C clutch is bad, but if the clutch locks up, how am I able to turn the motor at all? Also, what does the fuel pump have anything to do with the A/C clutch? If anyone has experienced this problem first hand, has any information or a confirmed diagnosis, your help is greatly appreciated.
