On transmission, in place of the speedo gear (unless 1986 happens to still have a cable driven speedo). If cable driven speedo, then the VSS is mounted to the back of the speedo itself.
The 1989 I used to have was VSS on the transmission and electric driven speedo with needle. 1986 is ????? to me
p.s. this is the second gen forum. Not a problem, but 1986 would be considered first generation. The brake-point for first year of second gen is 1995.
