Default rear hatch problems 91 blazer

so ive got this 91 s10blazer 4x4, with a 4.3. i love the old thing. theres only one thing, and this thing has aggravated me for 6 years now. the rear hatch can be opened with the key, or there's a button above my lighter.. and the best i can tell, it once said "Rear Window". when i push it, i can hear something going on back there, like its trying, but nothing happens. does anyone have a solution for this annoying problem. thanks abunch.

Sounds like the actuator is broken. Try this thread - How to fix rear window actuator. i.e. Rear Window Won't Open.

What happened on mine was the cable that comes from the actuator got a little stretched and needed adjustment. There are some bolts that hold the latch to the rear gate and they can be adjusted a little to take up the slack. There are times when the truck is off the latch won't open, but after starting the truck the button will work. I think this has to do with low voltage and a possible worn out actuator.

With mine it will pop & unlock but you have to have someone on the other side (at the hatch) to open it as you hold the button down. (I have no door key so this is my only way of opening it)

i was a little mistaken actaully. when i listen close, i can hear somethin goin on, but its in the daSH// SOUNDS LIKE NEAR THE FUSE BOX. BUT IVE CHECKED ALL THE FUSES

but i will check the acctuator... maybe thats the problem.i supose the cable is kinda like a brake cable on a bicycle? thanks guys, this is a very informative site. i only wish id have found it before my brake line collapsed. took me forever and about 300bones before i figured that out

ok i had this problem on mine. open the tailgate. look down to the left of the tailgate near the left rear light. there should be a ground wire. make sure its not broke off. mine broke and the actuator woundnt engage. only sometimes because it couldng get good ground.
