Default Rear main seal

Will I have to pull the motor to replace the rear main seal on a '91 4x2 w/4.3 engine?
Thanks for any insight on this subject.

Default RE: Rear main seal

I am not sure if it has a 1 piece or 2 piece rear seal, but either way, your chances of replacing it and replacing it right would be much better with the motor out. You could try to remove the trans and the oil pan, but I am not sure if you could replace it adequately by going at it this way.
