Default Removing old gas

Hi, im new here but not new to forums! But ive got a 1989 Blazer S-10 sport. Shes been sittin a few years due to a vandalism. They busted all the glass, mirrors, dashboard, headlights, taillights and put dents everywhere. So now im just gonna get it running and see if its worth the money to restore. But im looking for a easy way to get the gas out of the tank, without dropping the tank or syphining. I heard to disconnect the fuel pump and let it drain it out, is that true? The bad thing is when I put the new battery in, the fuel gauge went to full! Thats alot of gas to drain, somewhere!

The way I done it was to disconnect the fuel line going into the fuel filter under the truck on the frame rail. Hook up a 12v HOT lead to the fuel pump bypass under the hood and that runs your pump constant. You just need a small bucket or catch can to collect the gas as it flows out. Hopefully you dont have a full tank of 20 gallons of gas, your going to need alot of buckets.
