Here is the story. Coming home from work it just died so I pulled over and let it sit. Tried to crank it and it fired up really easy. Tried to give it some gas and it would just die, so I had it towed home. Done some research and took off the plenum and found that the spider was junk. Bought a jimmy for parts and took the one out of it and tried to crank it. It would crank but run like really really bad.Smoke was coming out of the back of the motor in back of the plenum. Took my old spider unit and sent it to rock auto to get rebuilt and got it back and got a new gasket and changed the plugs and put it back together and got all excited and nothing. Turn over but would not fire. Also put new fuel pump and filter so now I am trying to figure out what to do next. I love my truck very much but can not afford to put it in the shop. Can anyone help me? What do I do next.

Ill betcha if you cut off that 15+ year old connector that clicks onto the top of your injector and replace it she will fire right up. There is supposed to be a rubber gromet in it that makes the plug snap tight onto the injector unit, that rubber is rotted and gone after so many years, and you may have noticed that the old plug was flopping around and the rubber was non-existent. Its a good thing you can buy that connector at the parts store for under 10 bucks, and its got a silicone gromet that wont rot away on you. Try wiggling around the red/blue wires that poke out the front of the intake and see if you can change the runability of it. Those connectors have fragile wires up inside that contact the injector pins that can easily be broken in the taking apart of the injection unit. Just go get a new plug, cut off the old one, solder on the new one, and you should be good to go for another 15 years. We try to reccomend that you change the plug when you are messing with the spider unit.

I stopped by all the parts stores where I live and can't find one anywhere. Is it a dealer part? The only place that I didnt check was napa and that was because they were closed.

Just called autozone and they do not have one for the 5.7 either. Also asked about renting a fuel pressure tester and they want $150.00 to rent one. OUCH!!

I am beggining to wonder if that airtech fuel pump is a piece of hooey. Might just put the one out of the jimmy in it. It is old but I know it works. Will just have to wait and save and get a good one later on. I am ready to get my baby on the road. Hate the minivan. Can't go fishing in the van!!

first of all thanks for all the help. I went out side and looked at the wire harness on the blazer and the jimmy and the rubber pieces are not even there so it is off to the parts store I go with the part # in hand. Will let you know progress.
