Red face starting issues

ok so i bought a 93 s-10 blazer 4x4 4.3l v6 vortec about a week ago. I took my buddy who has been a Mercedes Benz mechanic for over 20 yrs. This truck is clean! started right up ran great no signs of issues. The previous owner was a mechanic that was laid off due to the ****ty economy here in cali, and claimed to keep it nicely maintained. On the 27 mile drive home it ran like a champ. mind you its at 215k miles. Ran smooth at 75pmh on the highway ect.. so right as i reach my house the low fuel light comes on.... i thought nothing of it. the next morning it took a few tries to start but i got it fired up and wen to the station and topped it off. 27 miles later got to work did my 8 hr shift came outside and it really gave me a hard time starting.. i figured it was the abnormal below 50 degree weather were having... so drove it home. parked , next morning fired right up, made it a few blocks on my way to work then it DIED! had to push home....

soo what i have done in 48 hours:

~New fuel filter
(you hear the fuel pump working when you turn the key to on)

result:got it to run... noticed it was a bit rough, my mechanic friend noticed a bad spark plug wire... so

~NEW wireset
started right up and ran.

took it out today and it ran like **** and dies... i limped it back to the house and now it wont start.

found this site and read about the EGR taking a **** so...

New EGR valve and gasket
result: Wont start

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

The fuel pump might not be holding the necessary 55 pounds of pressure, if its not 55, it probably will not start. Will it start using startig fluid or carburetor cleaner?

If so that will usually mean your firing system is working OK & its a fuel problem.

Then you have a leak which is most likely in your plenum. Your oil should smell gassy if its in the plenum and the oil could be way overfull. You want do a search on "CPI injector spider". Its not a hard fix to do yourself with 10MM sockets and screwdriver with torx bits, and the repair kit can be had for less than 300 bucks online. I had to do the same fix when I got my blazer not running for 300 bucks. I used a junkyard injector unit for about 20 dollars to fix mine and its still running strong. The part from the dealership OE replacement is 880 canadian, so you want to check out a site like injectorwarehouse.com for the aftermarket replacement. I actually reccomend the junkyard part so you can learn how to remove it properly when you get to your own vehicle. You will need an oil change after its done to get the gassy oil out.

So yeah, search the forums, and go out and diagnose whether or not its the injector unit, or the "nut kit" that is the leak. You can buy them separate, or in that kit I mentioned it has both. I had an injector leak in mine but took both parts from the wreckers.

Same story as mine. Dude had it sitting for a long time cause it was stalling out on him. Got sick of paying to park it (stall rental) and sold to me for 300. I came over with booster cables, checked oil, and it started right up and drove home no problems. Its not till it shuts off that it bleeds all the fuel into the intake and floods it out, making it tough to start again, and also adding gas to the oil in the crankcase.

If it's your spider forget replacing just the regulator and replace the entire thing, O'rilleys auto parts has new/rebuilt spiders for $180, I myself am at the point of buying one. I just did my fuel pump and the line from the pump to the sending unit can go bad. But like someone else said it's probably leaking at the regulator. I guess the plug that goes to the spider can also go bad so replace that as well, orilleys for $12, might as well when your in there.

yeah, they go bad and leak fuel and cause problems, I myself am trying to decide if this is the problem I am having. There really is no way other then to check for fuel pressure loss with a fuel pressure guage, which I do not have!

swapped the spider assembly with a brand new one.. the nut kit was not leaking ... she started right up and ran like a champ!!! ... well that was yesterday....

went to run some errands, she started right up and ran well, cam home for a bit then went to go out made it like 5 miles and it died... AGAIN!!! got it towed home.. {I<3 AAA}

tore the pluenum off and i had a bit of puddling on the passenger side... i think the part may be leaking?!?!?! going to auto ******** to exchange it.

Should have gone to orilleys or checker, same thing. They have rebuilt spiders, and the nut kits can go bad, don't forget the stupid injector connector that goes to the spider as well that goes bad. And is your check engine light on?
