surges at cold start up

i have had the same prob. with my 86 it is bacisly the same system it was the idle air control valve replaced it works great when you replace it you have to reset it take off the battery cable put it back on turn the key on (dont start it) for 5 seconds off for 10 sec. then start the motor. may try to reset it before replacing the iac valve
